Laboratory Museum of the Nuragic Age

The LabENur Museum is the brainchild of three tourist guides who wanted to save a historic building, the old Arzachena railway station from abandonment.

The name itself suggests that the LabENur is not a conventional museum. No showcases, no display cases with exhibits to be looked at with religious respect, but a museum for everyone that tries to bring to life, through the exhibition, the reality of a remote, very remote time.

The scale reproductions form a sort of path to touch. The structure has a strong dissemination impact and is the result of an approach based on didactics, dissemination and experimental archeology.

The LabENur museum hosts an interesting collection of ceramic, stone and bronze reproductions of artefacts found at archeological sites of Arzachena, made using techniques and materials of the time.

The aim of the exhibition is to recreate environments, activities and situations, and to let the visitors experience the daily life of the ancient inhabitants of these lands.

The museum is divided into two sections: one dedicated to the archeology of the area that includes a prehistoric room with an introduction to the Paleolithic and Neolithic in Sardinia, as well as a series of reproductions from the Neolithic sites of the territory of Arzachena; the itinerary continues in the two following rooms: one dedicated to the Nuragic man and the other one to the ceramic technology and the metallurgy; finally a small etnographic section with original furnishings and costumes of the late nineteenth century.
